Gender Rebels Podcast: How to Choose Your Name

  1. my name Susan Kay actually came about in a rather strange way? I guess. the problem of it is part of it has to do with my sisters name. the urge to dress used to be annoying to me until I learned to accept me, and the one day when I was alone, I was particularly annoyed that it was bothering me. And I screamed out loud knock it off Susan! the same way I would yell at my younger sister when she would bother me!

While I'm out to some, and they insist on calling me Francine, or Frances (I hate being mis labeled) the real problem is my sister and she doesnt know about me. but I have no idea what to change it to, I have been toying with the idea of changing it to Sara Michelle + my legal last name

    1. Sara Michelle is a wonderful name. The important thing is for you to pick your own name and not let other people box you in.

  2. I chose the name Nora for myself, which was the name that my parents had chosen for me, had I been female at birth. I believe there are a number of trans women who have chosen their names the same way. I was a little surprised that this method of name choice was not mentioned during the podcast.
