NYC Landmarks

Twelve years ago, this was my routine for leaving the house:
  • Get dolled up.
  • Spend an hour hour picking out the perfect outfit.
  • Look at myself in the mirror and try to psych myself up.
  • Have a drink to calm my nerves.
  • Double check that everything is in my purse.
  • Continue to try and psych myself up.
  • Have another drink to calm my nerves.
  • Mess with my wig to try and make it perfect.
  • Go out the door and walk out to the sidewalk.
  • Think about running back inside.
  • Breathe.
  • Continue to think about running back inside.
  • Breathe.
  • Go out into the world.
Being out is still nerve-wracking, sure. But at this point I've done it so much and so often that I'm totally used to it. I mean, I've even lived as a girl for an extended time. So, as celebration of being "out" I thought it would be fun to show the times I've been out in NYC, specifically the photos of me with famous NYC landmarks.

Spring is almost here and I am so excited to finally get out again! Where should I go this year? Of course I'm thinking of getting some better Central Park pictures, some decent Wall Street ones (there is just no light around there), better Times Square photos, some Prospect Park pics, the Ghostbusters' fire house. And I can't believe I haven't gotten the Unisphere yet! There are so many great things in NYC to be photographed in front of! Plus friend of mine works in the Empire State Building and I've never taken up her offer for a free visit to the observation deck.

Well, this month I'll pay my gigantic tax bill, buy a new camera, get some more laser, keep popping my pills and  growing my hair out. Then maybe this summer I'll feel that much more like a real girl and less like a faker and it'll be amazing. I'm thinking it will be. :)

  1. These pictures are so, so, ... well, I'm just awestruck. I think what I like best is the way you pose. Then the composition with the buildings, street scenes, trains, etc., completely blows me away. You're as real as it gets, Faith. Hope someday you'll let me tell you about my last few trips to New York.
